Learn to 'fill your cup'

Taking time out to look after ourselves is so important.

Time out doesn't have to be anything extravagant, however, what it does have to be is something that you enjoy and what will fill your cup. In therapy sessions I often speak to clients, particularly parents about taking time for themselves to 'fill their cup'.

It could be something as simple as enjoying a cup of tea, reading a book, taking 15 minutes to breath deeply and bring awareness to your mind and body, 10 minutes in the morning to journal about your feelings, or a walk in nature. Whatever it is that fills you with contentment is what is important to you.

When we take care of ourselves we give ourselves more energy and space for those we love around us. It is also important to value ourselves in order for others to value us, therefore, when we show ourselves self care and self love we help others to do the same. When I hear people say how unappreciated they feel, I wonder how well do they appreciate themselves?

What it takes to fill your cup is self care and self discovery. Allowing yourself patience and time.
